Where We Are - Guanajuato Mexico

February 2016 - Guanajuato Mexico
\ˌgwä-nä-ˈhwä-(ˌ)tō\

We had a cab pick us up and were at the bus station quite early and we relaxed.

You cannot beat bus service in Mexico. We had online tickets, received our snack and boarded.

There is so much room in our reserved seats we are spoiled.

Guanajuato, the capital of Guanajuato state, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a charming colonial-era city situated in a picturesque valley surrounded by the Sierra de Guanajuato mountains. Guanajuato is nicknamed “the place of frogs” because the shape of its mountainous terrain is said to have resembled a frog to the city’s early inhabitants. The region is known as the Bajio, or heartland of Mexico.

We grab a cab to our hotel $70 pesos.

We are staying in Posada Santa Fe. We check in and have to wait a few minutes for our room so I start snapping photos of this stunning hotel.

Set in Guanajuato's historic downtown area, this 1892 colonial hotel faces the scenic Jardin de la Union and is a 1-minute walk away from Teatro Juárez and a 9-minute walk from Museo Regional de Alhóndiga de Granaditas.

From our balcony.

  1. It does look like a lovely and inviting area. That painting in the hotel really catches my eye.
