It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What are you reading? is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. For this meme, bloggers post what they finished last week, what they're currently reading, and what they plan to start this week.

We've been in Las Vegas for the last week so only one book was finished. i'm looking forward to getting more reading done in the next weeks.

FINISHED THIS WEEK:
Stonemouth

Synopsis here.

I really enjoyed this book and plan on reading more of Iain Banks, it's been a while since I've read him. My last by him was The Steep Approach to Garbadale which I didn't finish.
This book is set in current day Scotland and I loved the social media references. There isn't any mystery thriller going on just the frankly crappy stuff that can happen when you are part of the slightly seedy underbelly of crime. The hotel scene, central to the story, is typically Banks and quite funny.
This is a slow steady tale that you want to go on and on.

STARTED THIS WEEK:
Wish You Were Here

Synopsis from Goodreads.
On an autumn day in 2006, on the Isle of Wight, Jack Luxton--once a farmer, now the proprietor of a seaside caravan park--receives the news that his brother Tom, not seen for years, has been killed in combat in Iraq. The news will have its far-reaching effects for Jack and his wife, Ellie, and compel Jack to make a crucial journey: to receive his brother's remains, but also to return to the land of his past and of his most secret, troubling memories. A gripping, hauntingly intimate, and compassionate story that moves toward a fiercely suspenseful climax, "Wish You Were Here "translates the stuff of headlines into heartwrenching personal truth.

  5. I've only ever read one of Iain Banks' sci-fi novels, Consider Phlebus, but I loved it. I have The Wasp Factory which is supposed to be excellent, but I haven't read it yet.

Hope you have a great week!
